Our Mission and Vision
It is my pleasure to introduce to you our soar away flagship magazine, First Class. Our vision is to be a leading, world-class magazine that promotes and celebrates excellence in the educational sector. We will achieve this by consistently produce a quality magazine that is rich in content and editorial presentation and strives to become the market leader in our segment.
First Class boast of the best hands in Nigerian journalism and it promises to break new grounds in development-oriented journalism. We do not intend to pursue narrow sectional or partisan political interests but to always abide by the highest standards of objectivity. In doing this, truth shall always remain our watch word.
First Class will bring the finest traditions of creative and celebrity journalism to your hands, month after month. We owe it a duty to refocus the way a publication should be run and we are set to create impact that will be a reference point in the history of Nigerian journalism.
We will capture detail trends and hard-to-come by events and information that will add colour to our work.
Education used to be something to be proud of in this country but various policies have made it to be neglected to the background. It is no longer news that our educational system stinks. It is in a state of degradation, neglect and ignominy.
The stench from our educational system permeates the atmosphere of our larger society; its pernicious effect is almost palpable. The resultant moral decadence and erosion of our societal values has crystalised into gangsterism, cheating, stealing, forgery, crime, general apathy for hard work and dishonesty.
Parents have long given up on due process of getting things done because of societal penchant for enthronement and worship of mediocrity at the expense of meritocracy. Integrity means nothing; the proverbial dignity in labour has long been jettisoned for the Machiavellian maxim of “the end justifies the means”. Paramount among the culprits for this despicable state of affairs is societal inability to recognize and promote excellence achieved on the platter of honesty and hard work. The quick-fix syndrome or the shortcut mentality has overturned sacred values which are useful pillars on which our greatness as a nation must be built.
First Class objective is to celebrate the achievement of outstanding students, governments, institutions and organizations in the educational sector to inspire the hunger for others to aspire for greater achievements. We will publish proven ideas and insightful tips on how to start and grow a school to enviable heights.
First Class will provide you with features on topical issues that need to be addressed, pictorials, inside gist, interviews, background on key policy makers, bureaucrats and issues that promotes academic excellence. We will not only write about them but also institute awards to reward excellence. It is a magazine that will bring back the glory of education in this country.
Life is all about contribution, you are either contributing to it or just passing by it. We cannot afford to live like a passer by because we are born to add value to the lives of others. I count on your support ahead as we hit the news stands every first week of the month.
See you at the top!
Thank you.
